A dramatic stand-off in Brisbane's Queen Street Mall has come to an end, after a gunman held police at bay for around an hour. Witnesses and an ABC reporter heard two bangs at around 12:40pm. A witness on a nearby balcony said she saw the gunman, who had been standing in the middle of the mall, covered in blood. He was later taken away in an ambulance. It is not clear if he is dead. Earlier, shoppers were evacuated and buildings placed in lockdown after the man began brandishing a handgun in the busy shopping street, and was surrounded by armed police officers.
