Ed Husic, Australia's first Muslim frontbencher, attacked on Facebook after taking oath on Koran - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) »
The Prime Minister's new parliamentary secretary, Ed Husic, has been subjected to religious attacks online for taking his oath of office on the Koran. Mr Husic yesterday became Australia's first Muslim frontbencher, and Governor-General Quentin Bryce said it was a great day for multiculturalism and everything it stands for. But on Mr Husic's Facebook page there have been comments saying it was disgusting and un-Australian for him to use the Koran. Other users, however, leapt to the Sydney MP's defence, saying he should ignore the haters and racist rants. Source Main page (current trends)
