Not so very long ago in a galaxy very, very close to ours, (actually, quite recently indeed, and right here on Earth) some smart guys pretty much invented the light saber. A team of Harvard and MIT physicists have discovered a new form of matter which they say behaves much like the iconic melee weapon from "Star Wars." Source Main page (current trends)
