Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani girl shot and injured by the Taliban for her human rights work, has been awarded the EU’s Sakharov Prize. Apart from Yousafzai, the shortlist included NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and three Belarusian dissidents. Source Main page (current trends)
